Charly García entered his 75th birthday with a party on the street and a chorus of colleagues
Fans waited from the early morning at his home in Palermo, while musicians and friends remembered the singer's trajectory through songs, photographs and affectionate tributes.

The scene began before dawn on the corner of Coronel Díaz and Avenida Santa Fe, in the Palermo neighborhood. There were no empty spaces left for the fans who came to greet Carlos Alberto García Moreno on his 75th birthday: red, orange and yellow flowers, black ribbons and paper pentagrams covered the windows of the building where he lives. Some carried posters; others waited with songs ready in their throats.
The wait became a celebration that spilled over into the city's streets and social networks. At one point during the morning, Charly appeared on the balcony to acknowledge the crowd gathered below. The gesture was simple, but it turned the corner into a collective embrace for a musician whose songs have accompanied several generations of Argentines.
A birthday told through music and memory
“Today the greatest one celebrates, the one who tells our own story to us.”Andy Cherniavsky
Colleagues from different stages of his career joined in. Colombian singer Carlos Vives, who identified García as a central influence on his own artistic path, performed "El fantasma de Canterville" during the special Reloj de Plastilina program on Mega 98.3. The broadcast also recalled the figure of guitarist García López.
Lali Espósito chose a black-and-white photograph from García's early years and quoted the refrain of "Necesito tu amor" before writing "Amor total". Their public admiration and meetings within the musician's circle go back more than a decade.
Moria Casán used a television appearance to remember how García had invited her to celebrate through someone close to him, although she could not attend. She called him "a champion of music" and told an anecdote from years ago: after returning from nine days detained in Paraguay, she was greeted by a Christmas party organized by Fito Páez and García.
“They told me: you are our greatest rock star, you were missing jail. They gave me a divine, unforgettable night.”Moria Casán
Fito Páez also sent an early message thanking García "for not being afraid", alluding to the way the musician moved through decades of Argentine history through his songs. The phrase could hardly have been more apt for an artist who made the popular song a place for intimacy, rebellion and collective memory.
“Thanks to the life life gave me with Charly. I celebrate his 75 loving and admiring him as I did years ago.”Nora Lezano
